Better known as Mickey by his friends and family, Michael was born in Danbury, CT to parents Michele (Vaghi) and Ernest Knapp on June 30, 1985. He lived the majority of his life in Danbury, including being confirmed in May of 2001 at St. Peter Church, and graduating from Danbury High School with the Class of 2004.
Mickey especially loved spending time with his mom, his brother, Christopher, and his sister, Veronica. He had a strong faith and found tv shows such as “The Encounter” and “Going Home” particularly inspiring. From childhood, he enjoyed a competitive game of chess, often playing against his brother (and “best friend”) and as the years went on, he became an avid gamer. He enjoyed watching shows about the supernatural, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Digimon. Mickey was an introspective individual, often demonstrating an instinct that transcended conventional wisdom, and believed that true power was not about physical strength, but rather it was exhibited through prayer, love, and sacrifice. He was a kind-hearted, selfless soul, who always offered a sincere, broad smile to all those he interacted with.
Mickey is now home and at peace with God, and in the loving memories of his grandmother, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury, with the Rev. Gregg Mecca, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel at the convenience of the family.
