Minnie was born in New York City on October 1, 1921, to Sarah and Abraham Lupin. She grew up in the Bronx where she was known to play marbles and stickball with the boys, later in life would beat the men at handball and basketball, throw a football and play soccer with her grandsons. She met the love of her life, Edward Schiller, at the tender age of twelve when he offered to take her for a ride on his bike. Growing up Minnie spent summers with her favorite Aunt, Anna, at Brighton Beach, NY, swimming in the ocean and walking on the boardwalk.
Minnie left high school at sixteen to go to work in retail to help her family and continued to work throughout World War II while Edward went to fight in the Pacific theater. Upon Edward’s return from the war, they married on August 26, 1945. They had two children, Barbara and Michael before moving to Elmont, New York where she raised beautiful roses and lilacs in her backyard. Her home was always the gathering place for friends and family. Minnie never met a stranger! To know her was to love her.
Minnie was survived by her children: Barbara Ellen Lorenz (Jack Lorenz) of Naples, FL and Michael Schiller of Danbury, CT; her grandchildren, Heather Lorenz (Henry Hierro) and Jaime Schiller (Tracy) of Danbury, CT, and Seth Lorenz (Yuliet) of New Canaan, CT; her nephew, Jack Lupin and great niece, Sara Lupin (Max Blazhevich) of Brooklyn, NY; and her great-grandchildren, Eliza, Sofia, Kendall, Elena and Stella.
