Nicholas Paul Gioia tragically passed away on December 3, 2025. He was loved deeply by countless people, all of whom are devastated by the void his absence has created. The grief of losing someone as charismatic, kind, and beloved as Nick is truly immeasurable.
Nick was born in Stamford, Connecticut on January 14, 1992. He was raised in New Fairfield by his parents, Paul and Kim Gioia, alongside his brothers Sam, Ben, and Dan. From an early age, Nick was a steady source of love, humor, and reassurance — the kind of big brother you could always count on. His childhood was filled with laughter, sports, and a generosity of spirit that touched everyone around him.
Nick graduated from New Fairfield High School in 2010, where he played football, basketball, and lacrosse. He attended West Virginia University and graduated with a degree in marketing, later building a successful and deeply fulfilling career in technology sales in New York City, most recently with NetApp at AWS, a profession he was truly passionate about.
Nick met the love of his life, Jillian Marmaras, growing up in New Fairfield. Many years later, they reconnected as adults in New York City and soon began dating. Nick proposed in 2024, and they were joyfully planning their wedding for May 2026. They recently bought a home together in Norwalk, Connecticut, where they lived with their dog, Cooper. Nick took tremendous pride in the life they were building, and he embraced every new project that came with being a first-time homeowner. He felt genuine joy about the future they envisioned together as husband and wife.
Nick was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, the kind of person whose magnetic presence could fill a room and whose warmth made everyone feel seen and valued. His sense of humor was effortless and unmatched, and he carried a genuine joy in making others laugh. A devoted sports fan and, in recent years, an enthusiastic golfer, Nick also had a gift for bringing people together through music.
He was most at peace on or near the water — on Candlewood Lake surrounded by family and friends, on the beaches of Old Saybrook with his fiancée, or along the shores of Sag Harbor with his loved ones. Some of his happiest moments were the ones woven into daily life: chasing Cooper around the house, pancake Saturdays with Jill, and hitting golf balls in the front lawn. But beyond those everyday joys, it was the annual golf trips with his friends, family vacations, boating and beach days, and NYC nights that he treasured most and the ones that will be forever cherished by those who loved him.
Nick is survived by his fiancé, Jillian Marmaras; his parents, Paul and Kim Gioia; his brothers, Sam, Ben, and Dan Gioia; his niece and nephew, Eloise and Owen Gioia; his grandfather, John Packer; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Cooper.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Tony and Bernice Gioia and Mary Anne Packer.
He will be dearly missed by his friends from New Fairfield and West Virginia University, as well as anyone who had the privilege of spending time with him over the years.
At the request of the family, there will be no public calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 15, 2025, at 11am at St. Edward the Confessor Parish, 21 Brush Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT.
