Noemi Trompetter

Noemi “Amy” Ramirez Trompetter of Danbury passed away at her home on November 17, 2018 after battling pancreatic cancer. She was born in Juncos, Puerto Rico on June 8,1930 to Alfredo Ramirez and Felipa (Castro) Ramirez. She was the oldest of five children. Her sister, Rosita, and brothers Alfredo, Hector, and Hiram all predeceased her.

Amy graduated from Spalding College in Kentucky with her Bachelor’s degree and Western CT State University with her Master’s degree. She spent 26 years teaching Spanish and English as a second language at Danbury High School. She loved teaching and continued to be remembered by students years later. Her teaching career enriched her life with many long-lasting friendships. She enjoyed traveling with her friends to many countries over the summers.

After her retirement, she became a prolific quilter and instructor to many. She made over 1,000 quilts, many donated to charitable organizations such as Ann’s Place, Salvation Army Angels Program, and New Fairfield/Sherman Animal Welfare Society. She also enjoyed cooking with her close friends in their gourmet club.

Amy was predeceased by her husband, Walter P. Trompetter. She is survived by her daughter Agnes (Agi) Pace and her husband Louis, her son Paul and his wife Pamela, 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey Pace and his wife Robin of Brookfield, Alison (Pace) Croteau and her husband Dustin of Danbury, Marni (Trompetter) Smith and her husband Trevor of Litchfield. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Aubrey Croteau, the “treasured light of her eye”, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Amy was a dynamic, independent person whose positive and uplifting spirit carried through everything she did. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 9am at the King Street United Church of Christ, 201 South King St., Danbury, CT. Private Interment will follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery, Danbury.
