OBITUARY
Patricia Ann Prokop
May 18, 1940 – December 26, 2020
Patricia A. Prokop, 80 of New Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 26, after a brief and sudden illness.
Pat was born in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Florence (Spisto) and Samuel Testani. A graduate of The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall High School in Milford, she later earned a degree at Bryant College.
Pat worked for many years for Charter Personnel where she thrived in human resources because she was a true people person. Later, she became a volunteer with a local literacy organization. Pat was very proud of her work with the adults she tutored many of whom she helped learn to read for the first time. She also worked for St. Rose of Lima School as a Teacher's Assistant and was truly devoted to her students.
Along with her ex-husband William Prokop Sr., Pat raised her sons in Newtown and was very proud of their accomplishments. Simply said, they were her pride and joy as her friends can readily attest. She equally and lovingly adored her 7 grandchildren who will greatly miss their Nana whom they often affectionately referred to as "P-Nan". Pat was a lifelong Yankees fan that sometimes caused discord in her immediate family! She loved tennis, cooking (eggplant parmigiana was her specialty), entertaining at holidays, and spending time with her boys and their families.
Pat was a friend to many who touched many lives. Her family is comforted by so many people sharing memories and their favorite "Pat" stories. Approximately 25 years ago, Pat moved to New Milford and developed many friendships that meant the world to her. She often talked of her Tuesday card game group, countless dinners with friends, and get-togethers she had with this special group of people.
Pat leaves behind her beloved sons, William (Ann) of Granby, CT, Scott (Tammy) of Bedford, NH, and Steven of Williamsburg, VA, and brother Robert (Sandy) Testani of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Brandon, Payton, Jacob, Matthew, Lucas, Chase, and Gabriella, and nephews Michael and Keith Testani.
Her parents and dear daughter in-law, Katrina Prokop, predeceased her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a donation to St. Rose of Lima School, 40 Churchill Rd., Newtown, CT, 06470.
At Pat's request, there will be no wake or funeral. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, CT. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance is limited but will be livestreamed on St. Rose's website.
The family hopes to have a Celebration of Life in the spring or summer to share laughs (something Pat loved to do) and remember all the good times

You wouldn't remember me because you were so young at the time you lived in Newtown but we were very close to Bill and Pat for many years and Pat was a special person. Very sad to hear of her passing.

I knew Pat as a coworker and friend from St. Rose School. She was so devoted to all the students. She was the first grade aid and in charge of the lunchroom.
We always had so much fun together and especially enjoyed
our trip to Las Vegas and our many lunches together after she
retired. She was a wonderful lady and I know her sons and grandchildren meant the world to her. RIP Pat.
