It is with deep sadness that the family of Patricia Anne Weaver (née Herrick) announces her passing at the age of 87, after a brief decline in health, on Friday, November 30, 2018. A longtime resident of New Fairfield, CT, and formerly of Pequannock Township, NJ, she died peacefully in her sleep with immediate family members nearby.
A native of Whitestone, NY, she was the youngest (and last living) of the seven children of Anne “Tootsie” Farrell Herrick and Nicholas Herrick. Known affectionately as “Patsy” among close friends and relatives, she is survived by her best friend and husband of 66 years, Oswald King Weaver, along with her four children, Francis, Thomas, Patty Jo, and Kenneth. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
After high school Patsy attended Fordham College, got married to her handsome Air Force man, and then later received a B.A. from William Paterson College. While raising her family, she also taught Special Education in the Pequannock school system.
Though an avid swimmer and skier, she could also play a mean game of golf and excelled at bridge. And while she loved to travel and see the world, her favorite place always remained Lake George in the Adirondacks, where as a teenager she had first met her husband-to-be.
A funeral service in Patsy’s memory will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018, at 10:00 A.M., at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 21 Brush Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT. Relatives and friends of the family are welcome to attend. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to Danbury Hospital, which took such superb care of our beloved mother and wife in her last days.
Hers was a remarkable life, lived fully and fearlessly. All who knew Patsy will remember her natural kindness, beautiful smile, and invincible sense of humor, which stayed with her to the very end. The light she brought into the world will not be extinguished by her leaving, but will shine all the brighter in the memories of everyone she touched in her life. We love you forever, Patsy, and will always have you in our hearts.
