Peter was born in Danbury, CT on May 22, 1956 to the late Thomas G. and Elizabeth M. (Stump) Flanagan.
Survivors include his siblings: Michael, Stephen (Joyce), Patrick, Kathleen (Edward Sullivan), James and John. Survivors also include his nieces and nephews: Kevin, Jennifer, Connor, Alex and Paige.
Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his niece, Kerry Flanagan and sister-in-law, Nancy Flanagan.
Peter grew up in Danbury and attended St. Peter School and Danbury High School. He did post graduate training at Henry Abbot Technical School in auto body. As a young man, Peter had a wide range of interests including auto racing; he especially loved to attend the SNYRA stock car races at the old Danbury Fairgrounds. Peter was also a talented photographer, an avid hiker and camper who attended several Outward Bound camps across the country.
Peter pursued a long career as a chef working mostly in institutional settings including WCSU, Teikyo-Post College as well as a long tenure at Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury, CT.
Peter possessed a sharp memory for stories about old Danbury, the Fair and the Racerena. He had many fond memories from his teenage years hanging around Bernie’s Texaco on the corner of Main and South Streets with his brothers. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood with his five brothers and one sister in a small house in Danbury surrounded by loving parents and grandmothers, as well as an endless supply of dogs and cats, in a neighborhood full of children of all ages.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Peter Church, Danbury, CT. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends will be received from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
