Peter C. Mueller

May 24, 1961December 5, 2012

Peter C. Mueller, 51, of Danbury, Conn., formerly of Ossining, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly Dec. 5, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn Hunt Mueller and the devoted son of Fritz and Margaret Muller.

Peter graduated from Ossining High School and from Pace University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an M.B.A. in finance. In the past, he worked at Harris Publishing, Reader’s Digest, Grolier, and Scholastic. At the time of his death, he was employed in financial analysis and business planning at Survey Sampling Inc. in Shelton.

Peter is also survived by his loving sisters, Eva Jensen and her husband Robert; and Irene Gagliardo and her husband, Charles; his nephews and niece, Eric Jensen, Peter Gagliardo and Christina Gagliardo, as well as his father-in-law, John Hunt, and sisters-in-law, Eileen Hunt DuBois, and Jeannine Hunt Dickholtz and her husband, Andrew, and their daughter, Fiona. Family came first for Peter, and he particularly enjoyed hosting Christmas Eve and Christmas gatherings for them with his wife at their home. His dog Daisy was always by his side. Peter was known for his wide-ranging knowledge on many practical matters, but particularly for his kindness and wit.

He enjoyed accompanying his wife to area restaurants, helpfully sharing opinions on his menu selections for her reviews. People sought his opinion on DIY projects, techniques, and the appropriate tools for the job at hand. Computer technology was another interest of his. Peter loved fire trucks and attending the annual fire parades in Ossining. He enjoyed hikes with his wife and dog, summer vacations in Maine, and evenings at home in front of the fireplace.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, Conn. The funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Carolyn, Eva, Irene, Charlie, Pete, & Christina: We are so sorry for your sudden loss. We never had the pleasure of meeting Carolyn, however I met Peter years ago when Irene and Charlie celebrated Christina's birthday at a roller skating rink. We heard many glowing stories about Irene and Eva's baby brother, Peter and hope these special memories bring you comfort now, and in the years to come.

Peter lived a full life, a happy life, and a loving life. While cut short, I am honored to have worked with a character who brought smiles to those around him, took pride in every aspect of his life - from wife and work, to dog and woodwork, and truly set an example for the way that each of us should live. Peter will be missed, but also celebrated for years to come.

I am so sorry for your loss Carolyn. In the short time that I knew your husband, while employed at SSI, he was such a sweet man with a genuine heart. He made me feel welcome and was always with a smile. May GOD give you peace and comfort during this time.

I had the honor and privilege of working for Peter at SSI. A solid professional, compassionate and a true friend. Peter loved people, always tried to help and really cared. One of the nicest and kindest guys I've ever known. I will miss Peter. Carolyn may God bless you during this very difficult time.

I am very sorry for you loss.
I had the pleasure of working with Peter for several years at Grolier/Scholastic and know what a kind and wonderful person he was. When I graduated college, my grandmother said to me, "Work hard and be nice to people." Peter embodied that sentiment. God bless his family.
