

Richard was born in Portland, Maine to Ervin M. Hamilton and Lillian S. (Grannell) Hamilton on Nov. 13, 1927. He married Dorothy L. Lane on April 30, 1949 in Danbury, CT. Richard worked at the Mallory Hat Shop (where he met his wife), Bard Parker and then for The Danbury Housing Authority for several years doing maintenance work before retiring in 1990. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during the Occupation of Japan.
Richard is predeced by his wife Dorothy, son Brian, brothers Gerald, Ervin, Keith, Norman and Nathan, and sisters Phyllis Hoyt and Priscilla Jodrey. Richard leaves behind his daughter Kathleen Robichaud of Southbury CT, son Paul Hamilton (wife Anne) of Colorado, son Scott Hamilton of Danbury CT, and grandchildren Eric, Troy, Sarah of Colorado, Tyler and Justin of Woodbury, CT, and Melina Andrews and husband William of Southbury CT, whom Richard has resided with for his final three years along with his great grandchildren William and Skye.
He also has great grandchildren in Colorado, Avery, Maya, Madison and Jack, and is also survived by
several nieces and nephews.
There are no services planned at this time; his ashes will be scattered at sea near the Portland Headlight in Maine.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Jennifer Demartino of Regional Hospice for going above and beyond to help make Richard comfortable in his final week of life. She came everyday on her own time to help us. To nurses Marie Byron and Beth Meyer who also came out to help, and to everyone helping from behind the scenes at the office. To his PCP Dr. Vadim Tikhomirov, cardiologist Dr. Jonathan Alexander, pulmonologist Dr. David Oelberg and neurologist Dr. Robert Bonwetsch for their excellent care and wonderful bedside manner over the last several years; for their care and compassion for Richard we will always be thankful.
