Richard Thomas Klatte

Richard Klatte, age 79 of Barefoot Bay, Florida, formerly of New Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born April 30, 1944 to Fred and Estelle Klatte, Richard was a proud husband, father, brother and grandfather.

Richard attended New Fairfield elementary schools and graduated from Danbury High School. He also served in the United States Coast Guard before marrying his beloved wife Sally and settling down in his home town of New Fairfield to raise their family.

Richard was employed for over 30 years as a truck driver for O&G Industries in Danbury. He was also a long time member of the Company A Fire Department in New Fairfield, where he served as chief for many years. He and Sally retired to Florida in 2007.

He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Klatte and Shelly Yorio, and son in law Lou Yorio, his grandchildren; Connor, Sydney and her fiancé Jake Castro, Peyton. Avery, and Jace Yorio, all of New Fairfield, two brothers; Fred Klatte of California and Bernard Klatte of Vermont and several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Sally, son Steven, and sister Arlene Kohler.

Service will be announced at a later date with Green Funeral Home in Danbury assisting with the arrangements.
