Richard was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on November 19, 1940, to Virginia DiVincenzo Lima & Manuel Lima. He attended Coyle High School in Taunton Massachusetts and then Bentley Business School in Boston, Massachusetts. He spent his career as an accountant for ITT Baking Company, Raymond Baking Company, and Citicorp.
On July 16, 1960, he married Pauline Halpen and together they lived in Boston, Massachusetts; Clarence, New York and finally Brookfield, Connecticut. His passion for numbers did not stop after working hours. He loved going to the Greyhound dog races at Raynham Race Track, playing poker, chess, and cribbage (15-2;15-4) with friends and family, and analyzing the stock market. He also loved rooting for the Boston Red Sox and the Uconn Husky’s, reading and New York Times crossword puzzles.
Richard grew up spending time camping and fishing with his father at Race Point Beach in Provincetown, Cape Cod. His love for the beach and fishing led to many family vacations on the Cape. He proudly carried this tradition on and cherished annual Lima family vacations by the ocean. His family grew every year adding many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which brought him great joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Gaffney, father Manuel Lima, sister Carolyn Alvarnaz, and recently his son, Steven Lima.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pauline (Halpen) Lima, stepmother Eileen Lima; his children David Lima and partner Terri Passante; Robin Lima and husband Shawn Sullivan; Stacy Lucas and husband Mark Lucas and Brian Lima; his grandchildren Steven and partner Michele, Chante, Chelsey, Eric and wife Jacqueline, Nicholas and partner Sarah, Melissa, and husband Brady, Brendan and wife Melissa, Katherine, Madison, Salvatore, Kelsey, Mia, Nathaniel and Ellawyn; and great-grandchildren Saniah, Camryn, Devin, Aiyana, Lucas, Landon, Juliana, Murphy and Josie.
Richard, aka Dick, was a generous man who was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends. His quick wit, Richardism’s, and charm will be forever missed by all that knew and loved him.
