Richard T. Murphy

Richard is survived by his wife Ruth of 44 years, son Robert, daughter Katherine and her husband Andrew, daughter Elizabeth, sister Anne of Vero Beach FL, brother Thomas of Bethel, sister Sharon of Hasbrouck Heights NJ, brother Mark of New Milford, loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Richard was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. He is predeceased by his father, Thomas and mother, Ethel of Newtown.

Richard grew up in Newtown, CT and served as a police officer in Danbury for 34 years. In those 34 years he began the K-9 unit for Danbury Police. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police following his retirement in 2008. Richard had a love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar at local establishments.

A funeral mass for Richard will be celebrated on Friday, November 3rd at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, 209 Tackora Trail Ridgefield, CT. followed by burial ceremony at St. Peter’s cemetery in Danbury, CT In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Richard's name.
