

Richard was born on March 9, 1932 in Yonkers, NY. He was the son of the late Harold and Judith Powers. Richard grew up in Cos Cob, CT and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1950.
He worked various jobs in the auto care field before opening his own business in Greenwich in 1978, Gateway Auto Supply. He retired in 2007.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He was an avid fly fisherman and golfer. He held a private pilot's license and was an enthusiastic sportsman. He was also a long time member of the Cos Cob Rifle and Revolver Club. Richard was always quick with a joke and appreciated the humor in life. He was a hardworking man willing to help others.
He is survived by his daughter: Jennifer Powers of Danbury; his two sons: Darren Powers and his wife, Heather, of Brookfield and Timothy Powers and his wife, Kelly, of Portsmouth, RI. His brother: Harold Frederick Powers of Greenwich. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Madison, Julia, Allison, Annaliese, and Danny. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 2pm-5pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. A Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:45pm.
