He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 54 years Joan R. Bulkley, his daughter Cynthia Thayer and her husband Karl of New Milford and his son Robert S. Bulkley of Danbury. He is also survived by his sister Barbara and her husband Bill of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by several pets, including his favorite dog, a Black German Shepherd named Spunky.
Bob graduated from Norwalk High School in 1955 and attended Wright Technical Institute in Stamford, CT to become a plumber. He worked for the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 777 for over 50 years. He loved being a plumber and he worked on several large buildings in Connecticut including the Merritt 7 Buildings in Norwalk and the Lee Farm Corporate Park in Danbury. He was particularly proud to have worked on the Hubble Telescope Project. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1962 and was very proud to have served his country for 6 years.
Bob was an avid Yankee and Giant fan and watched every game. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, camping and long walks with his wife and family. In his later years he enjoyed walking at the Danbury Fair Mall and solving the New York Daily News Crossword puzzles. He also loved watching old Clint Eastwood and John Wayne movies and could not find a western movie or TV Show he did not like. He suffered from COPD, but never lost his sense of humor. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and nurses aids at Danbury Hospital and Glen Hill Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
