
Bob served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked for over 30 years for the United States Postal Service mainly in Harrison, NY and retiring as Postmaster in Newtown, CT. Upon retiring, Bob devoted his life and received many awards for his volunteerism at Danbury Hospital, Pope John II Center for Healthcare and the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Monroe, CT.
Bob is survived by his wife Eileen and his children: Gail Byrwa and her husband, Stephen, of Pleasantville, Lora Branson and her husband, Steve, of Indianapolis, IN and Joan Bordo and her husband, Lou, of Hilliard, OH. Nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren also survive. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Jack and Walter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY. Friends will be received on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, ATT: Sr. Marita, 1428 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468.
