Robert was born in Danbury, April 24, 1942, the son of the late Paul G. and Julia (Balogh) Kovacs. He was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School in 1960, and received his Associates Degree from Dean Junior College in 1962.
Robert worked for several years in the family businesses, Paul Kovacs Tire Shop, Advanced Stone, Inc., and KBRO, LLC. He also operated for a number of years his real estate business, Robert Kovacs Realty.
Robert was active in the greater Danbury community, serving on the boards of several banking institutions. He was a volunteer and board member with the Danbury Chapter of the American Red Cross for 10 years, served on the Danbury Housing Authority for 20 years, and was a member of the New Milford Chamber of Commerce. He was also a longtime member of Union Lodge #40 AF and AM in Danbury.
In addition to his wife Linda, Robert is survived by his son Robert G. Kovacs Jr. of New Milford, his brother Paul B. Kovacs and his wife Buni of New Milford, his niece Connie Brescia and her husband Glen, nephews Paul Kovacs, Jr. and his wife Teri, and Christopher Kovacs, as well as several great nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his brother Roger P. Kovacs.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30am on Friday April 20th in the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury with the Rev. Joseph Shepley, Rector of Saint Paul Episcopal Church, Brookfield, officiating. Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home on Thursday April 19th from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
