

Ronald S. Leonard, age 83 of Danbury, formerly of Scranton, PA died at his home surrounded by his family on Friday Dec. 30th. He was the husband of the late Maryann (Washicko) Leonard. Ronald was born Aug 2, 1929 in Scranton, PA, the son of the late Donald and Martha (Dowse) Leonard. Raised and educated in Scranton, he later served in the U.S. Army as a medic stationed in Germany. A resident of Danbury for over 60 years, Ronald was a retired employee of the Amphenol Corporation, Danbury where he worked as a manufacturing engineer. He enjoyed bowling and softball, as well as writing poetry and was a member of the National Poet Society.
Ronald is survived by his children: Joann Gavell and her husband Charles of Danbury, Donald Leonard of Danbury, Sharon Gardner and her husband Steven of Lake in the Hills, IL, and John Leonard and his wife Michelle of Wallingford, CT, six grandchildren: Patricia, Danielle, Rebecca, Holly, and Mathew Leonard, and Zachary Gardner, two sisters: Joan Gavin and Martha Murazzi, both of Scranton, PA, two sisters in law: Helen Leonard of Dunmore, PA and Elizabeth Leonard of Scranton, PA, and many nieces and nephews. Ronald was predeceased by his brothers Merle and Gene Leonard.
The family will receive friends at a memorial gathering to be held on Tuesday January 3, 2012 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury from 10am until 12 noon. Interment will be private.
