It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosa Maria Da Silva Bento Caramelo, 68, of Danbury, CT. She passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 13, 1957, in Cativelos, Gouveia, Portugal, she was the cherished daughter of the late Manuel Bento and Maria Asçensão Da Silva Figueiredo. After marrying the love of her life, Carlos Alberto Jesus Caramelo, they immigrated to the United States to start their new life together.
Rosa was a talented and dedicated seamstress at Fairfield Processing in Danbury for over 40 years. Outside of work, Rosa loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends. Her loyalty and love were felt by those who were fortunate to know her. Rosa, along with Carlos, was passionate about passing down the Portuguese culture and traditions with their beloved son, Marco. They spent summers in her hometown of Cativelos visiting family and friends. She spent countless hours supporting Marco as he played soccer from childhood through his collegiate years. Rosa loved taking road trips to Florida for vacation to visit family, making so many memories along the way. You could always find Rosa soaking in the sun at the beach in the summer or fishing alongside Carlos. She was also an avid cook and baker, always trying new recipes for family gatherings.
Rosa was predeceased by her step-sister, Maria Dos Anjos De Oliveira (late – Jose), and step-brother, George Bento (late - Carmella).
In addition to her husband, Carlos, of 48 years, survivors include her son, Marco Caramelo (Nicole). Her siblings: Maria De Lurdes Da Silva Bento, Jorge Manuel Da Silva Bento (Elsa), Sofia Bento Santo (Antonio), Sonia Bento Pires (Jose Mario). Her step-siblings: Sergio Bento (late – Dolores), Lucília Bento Cipriano (Manuel). Her nieces and nephews: Liliana Baptista, Christopher Baptista, David Bento, Andre Bento, Jonathan Pires, Nicholas Santo, Andrew Pires. And numerous step nieces and nephews.
