Sandra Eileen Wityak

Sandra Eileen Wityak, 64, of Danbury, passed away on July 15, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving husband Michael, her big sister Dee, nephews Ryan and Dustin and her cherished niece Mallory, who provided her with loving care during her last few weeks.

Sandra was born in her parents' home in Yorktown Heights, NY to Edna (Daisy) Macuirynski and Vincent (Vinny Mac) Macuirynski on September 23, 1961. She attended Yorktown Heights public schools. Upon graduation from Yorktown High, she attended Westchester Community College and graduated in 1981. She married Michael Wityak on July 14, 1985, at Bear Mountain NY.

Sandy worked at the IBM Thomas J. Watson research center in Yorktown Heights NY for many years where she was recognized with many awards for her skills and accomplishments. Upon her retirement Sandy pursued her love of gardening. It was soon evident she had a special talent and began selling her produce at local farmers markets as well at various restaurants and farm stands.

She loved her home and took great pride in working on the house and property. She had 2 cats Yogi and Bunny that gave her 17 years of pure joy. Her love for those two was immense. Sandy enjoyed the many vacations spent in the Caribbean playing golf, fishing and spending time at the beach. Growing up she would watch NFL games with her dad and became a lifelong Giants fan. Her love of the Beatles was well known to everyone.

The most important thing in her life was her family. She is preceded in death by her eldest brother Mitchell, her beloved mother Daisy, her special father Vinny Mac and her big brother Wayne.

Sandy is survived by her eldest sister Dee, older sisters Wanda and Clair, nephews Ryan, Dustin, Chris, and Jesse; nieces Jennifer, Mallory and Deana.

A private celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at a later date. Her family has a rich tradition of military service. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project in her honor.
