Stephanie was born in 1959 to Jacqueline Greene Harcum and Henry Burnett Knox of Malvern, PA. She graduated from Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, Pa, in 1977. Stephanie fell in love with radio as a teenager and shortly after she graduated from high school, left for Florida to pursue her dream of becoming a disc jockey. She began her radio career at Y-100 in Miami as “Stevie Knox the Mini Fox”. She would later be heard on Majic 102.7 and LOVE 94FM, where she met future husband, Michael Dalfonzo. She left radio in 1991 to be a full-time mom.
Stephanie was a dedicated wife and mother who poured herself into her family. She and Michael raised two children, Crissi Dalfonzo, 36, of Ithaca, New York, and Gregory Dalfonzo, 34 of Washington, D.C. While they lived in Oregon, she led countless family camping trips in the Cascades and along the coast. Once moved to Connecticut, she dedicated herself to her children and tirelessly and fiercely advocating for Michael leading up to his liver transplant in 2002.
Stephanie’s second career was as an Integrative Hypnotist, healer, and yoga teacher. Over the last 20+ years, Stephanie has touched countless lives, easing anxiety, cultivating calm, and helping clients, friends, and community members become their best selves. Stephanie also authored “Goodbye Anxiety, Hello Freedom”. In the last few years, she also began hosting classes on Insight Timer, expanding her reach and community. Her Sunday live sessions became a place of refuge for many — a space to breathe, to soften, and to feel less alone. Her greatest joy was working with children and witnessing the miraculous changes they were capable of achieving.
Stephanie loved being outdoors — biking, walking, spending time in nature, and especially at the beach, where she and husband Michael spent as much as possible. Stephanie was a consummate volunteer, whether in scouting and P.T.A leadership roles while her children were young, or more recently, working with food rescue organizations to ensure people did not go hungry. Stephanie will best be remembered for her care of others.
Stephanie is survived by her husband Michael Dalfonzo, 75; daughter Crissi Dalfonzo and her wife Kelly Donnelly; son Gregory Dalfonzo and his husband Craig Wainner; sister Jodi Dill and her husband Andy Dill; and sister Cynthia Knox and her wife Carla Rae Johnson.
