

Sue Ann DeFranco, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on July 27,1950, in White Plains NY, Sue Ann was connected to her roots in Connecticut, residing most of her life in Danbury where she raised her children.
She passed peacefully with those who loved and cared for her in Sarasota, Florida, where she spent the last several years. Sue Ann dedicated her life to family and Christian values, as a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. The daughter of Carmen Russo and Laura Spytkowksy, Carmen was a police officer and Laura a beautician.
Sue Ann was immensely proud of her education having earned her Master's Degree from Fairfield University at a time when most women were not continuing their education. She taught elementary school, and her legacy will live on through the students who continue to remember her as one of their most influential educators. She spoke fondly of teaching the gifted in elementary school.
Sue Ann was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Charles M. DeFranco who she was married to for over 40 years. She is survived by her children: Nina, Sammy, David, Lauren and Susan. Susan cared for mom during these difficult times as she fought a long battle and made it to her 90th birthday against all odds. She is also recently predeceased by her only sister Rose who passed just a few months prior and is there to welcome her into the gates of heaven. Sue Ann is survived by 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury, on October 17, 2025, at 10:30 am. Please pray for Sue Ann, may she rest in peace with the angels who are there to greet her and welcome her into the hands of God.
Entombment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury.
