I have so many memories about my favorite neighbor that it's hard to leave just one or to pick the one that is most indicative of her maternal confidence and generosity. When we kids were very young, we made a bad decision and threw crabapples at a neighbor's house. The man understandably followed us angrily back to the Monaghans' house, where we were hiding. Mrs. Monaghan went out and spoke to him for us, calmed him down and sent him back home. She never yelled at us or showed any anger, but she let us know in her gentle way that what we had done was wrong, and we all understood and learned from her. I aspire to be like her in so many ways. What a strong and wonderful woman she was, and she will live on in all of us who knew and admired her.

I had the very distinct privilege to work with Sue for several years at Consolidated School. Her wry sense of humor brightened many days as we endeavored to inspire young children to strive toward success.
I am so very sorry to hear that you have lost a dear member of the family, and send prayers for comfort during this difficult time.

I have known Sue since we played softball together at General Foods and she was still an O'Rorke. As it turned out she married became a Monaghan and moved down the street. She was a loving caring woman, good athlete, great Mom and taught my child to ride a bike after I thought it was an impossible task. Condolences to her family. She will be missed.
