Theresa was born in Freeport, NY to Helene and Arthur Stone on June 25, 1942. She graduated from Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick, NY and SUNY Long Island Agricultural and Technical Institute at Farmingdale, NY. She married Wade William Roese on April 15, 1967 in Freeport, NY. After beginning her professional life working at Redbook, Booz Allen, and Perkin-Elmer, Terrie later transitioned to a career in hospitality, working for 15 years in guest services at Tauck Tours. While at Tauck, Terrie earned a BA in History from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY, graduating with honors. She served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader alongside her mother as well as for her daughters’ Brownie and Girl Scout troops, Sunday school teacher at First Church of Christ Congregational in Redding, CT, and volunteer guide at the Keeler Tavern Museum in Ridgefield, CT. A lifelong lover of travel, history, and genealogy, Terrie’s passions were family ancestry, the improvement of Redding’s cemeteries and maintenance of records on sites such as Find a Grave, and exploring historical museums with friends.
Terrie is preceded in death by her mother, Helene Stone; father, Arthur Stone; and sister, PeggyJayne Stone Pierce.
She is survived by her husband, Wade Roese; daughter Tina Marie Roese; daughter Jill Roese Adrian and son-in-law Patrick Adrian; granddaughter, Bridgette Burdick; great-granddaughter, Billie Rhoades; brother-in-law, Dr. William Pierce and his wife, Theresa Pierce; nephew William Pierce, his children, William and Catharine Pierce, and his partner, Shubha Sunder; nephew Jonathan Pierce, his wife, Talia Pierce, and their children, Drew, Graham, and Tanner; and niece, Gillian Pierce.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 25 Cross Hwy, Redding, CT with Reverend Dr. Dean C. Ahlberg officiating.
The family invites anyone who wishes to gather before the service to join them between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm in the sanctuary.
Memorial donations in Terrie’s name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Terrie’s family and friends wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the medical teams of the Yale New Haven Hospital Transplantation Center and the Yale New Haven Hospital Trauma Center for their dedication and compassion, and to the organ donor whose kidney gave her eleven more years of life.
