

Tom was born in Danbury, son of the late Frederick and Margaret (Ormsby) Wiedl. He graduated from St. Peter School and Danbury High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was the proprietor of his own roofing business and worked his whole career throughout the greater Danbury area. He spent many years on Nettles Island, Jensen Beach, FL, where he was a member of the church and men’s club. He had a great love for airplanes and flying and was a longtime member of the Housatonic Flying Club.
He is survived by his son: Danbury Fire Chief T.J. Wiedl and wife Denise of Danbury and his daughter Donna Dirico and husband James of Montauk, NY, two brothers, Albert Wiedl of MS and Jack Wiedl of MI, as well as his grandchildren: Justin Dirico and wife Allison, Morgan Dirico and Jack Dirico and Michael, Kevin, Brian and Sean Wiedl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
