William "Bill" Thomas Gantert Jr.

William “Bill” Thomas Gantert Jr., 67, of New Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away on August 13, 2026. Born on July 31, 1959, in Danbury, Connecticut, Bill lived a life defined by skilled hands, an open heart, and a deep love for the outdoors and his family.

A graduate of Immaculate High School, Bill went on to become a master carpenter, taking pride in work built to last. He was the owner of Candlewood Golf Cart, where he was known for going out of his way to help his customers and friends — the kind of man who treated a handshake as a promise and never left someone in a bind if he could help it.

When he wasn’t working, Bill was happiest outdoors: hunting, fishing, or simply spending time at the farm. He also had a soft spot for his two dogs, Cooper and Ranger, who were his loyal companions through it all. But nothing brought him greater joy than his two grandchildren, Ryder and Madison, who held a special place in his heart.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, William and Jean Gantert. He is survived by his children, Matthew and his wife Rachel Gantert, and William and his wife Beth Gantert; his cherished grandchildren, Ryder and Madison; and his siblings, Bernadine Gantert, Belinda Gantert, Mary Costanzo, and Peter and his wife Tricia Gantert; his former wife, Christine Baldelli; and his two nieces and nephew. He leaves behind a family who loved him and a community of friends who will remember his generosity.

A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends.
