Alexander W. “Alex” Nenart, Jr. age 101 passed peacefully on January 7, 2020 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. He was the husband of the late Virginia (Morrison) Nenart and former husband of the late Dorothy (Nolan) Nenart. Born and raised in Boston he was the son of the late Alexander, Sr. and Mary (Lucas) Nenart. He lived his early years in South Boston and moved to Norwood where he raised his family and in later years was a resident of Barrington, RI.
He was employed over many years as a Mechanical Engineer having worked in several major corporations such as General Electric and Barry Controls. His engineering skills gave him a lifelong hobby of autos and boats. He was always a hard worker and enthusiastic in his love of music, dining and enjoying time on the water. He would try to teach himself how to play keyboard instruments to compliment his love of great music. His interest in food and nutrition became a hobby as he explored the use of health supplements and always tried to stay ahead of health issues by remaining active.
He is survived by two daughters, Diane and her husband Dr. Howard Clausen of South Dartmouth, Barbara and her husband Dr. Andre St. Germain of Vineyard Haven and stepson Robert Nolan of Norwood; one sister Ann Palmiera; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Debra Jocus of Norwood and Ronald Nenart of Bristol ,RI.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 12:00 PM in the Waring Sullivan Home at 230 Russells Mills Road, South Dartmouth. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private.
