Antonio F. Marmelo, 73, of Dartmouth passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Matos) Marmelo with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. They would have celebrated their anniversary in October.
Born in Linhares da Beira Portugal, a son of the late Joaquim and Lourdes (Figuerido) Marmelo he came to America in 1972. He was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Parish.
Mr. Marmelo worked as a mason contractor for 38 years with Marmelo Brothers Construction in Dartmouth.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Steven Marmelo and his wife Jessica of Dartmouth and a daughter, Melanie Marmelo and her fiancé David Sylvia of Dartmouth; two sisters, Emelia Freitas and her husband Jose of New Bedford and Rosa Almeida and her husband Jose of Acushnet; a brother, Jose Marmelo and his wife Fatima of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Nathan Marmelo, Julian Marmelo, Nadia Sylvia and Hanna Sylvia. He was the brother of the late Goncalo Marmelo, Joao Marmelo and Elena Mimoso.
His funeral will be Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 10 a.m. from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Julie Billiart Parish, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth.
