Deidra brought so much sparkle, fun and love to my classroom over the years. From the Disney Sing-A-Longs to the Just Dance-athons and everything in between, she brought so much joy to all of us around her. We will miss her dearly but will continue to honor her spirit by building a butterfly garden outside of our classroom for her.

To her mother, I never met your daughter. Seems like so many knew and loved her. I was on the group on Fb when you were searching for the paper. I hope you got many. I can’t imagine your terrible pain and from what you and others said she was pure joy. Hope your beautiful memories of her brings you comfort and joy. 💕

My name is Valerie Ann Gelinas. I was blessed to be with Deidra from pre-school through High School in the Dartmouth Public Schools. I have so many special memories of wonderful times with Deidra; too many to mention them all.
Special Olympics, birthdays with family, Disney princesses, dances, and "special friends" like Eric. One of the most memorable was her 16th birthday when she belted out "Let it Go" from Frozen! And ended with a special Deidra princess flourish!
And a Graduation that was perfect - complete with fireworks - totally amazing!!
Deidra's smile and laughter lit up a room and she always knew when people needed a hug. She will be sadly missed; her shining spirit and loving heart remains. Love you always and forever, Mrs. "G"

I will always remember my sister stealing cookies from the kitchen by the handfulls and doing her signature laugh when she was doing something she wasn’t supposed to. This was always followed by either showing our great grandmother to tease her or making a mad dash to her room. Of course, I may or may not have enabled her by “forgetting” them out on the counter minutes before.

My sincere condolences to the family. Our Daughter, Lila, and Diedra were class mates at DHS and SMEC. I know that Lila enjoyed spending time with Diedra at school, riding on the bus, her birthday party, and at Special Olympics. We will never forget her smile and, of course, her love of PINK! With Love, the Gomes Family.
