Eleanor (Howland) Johnson, age 94, of South Dartmouth, passed away, Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in her home that she was born in, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Rodney Johnson.
Born in Dartmouth, the daughter of the late Gideon and Elvira (Carr) Howland, she was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and Kinyon Campbell Business School. Mrs. Johnson was employed as a Payroll Clerk for many years at St. Olaf University. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards and was an avid bowler.
She married and spent many years in Minnesota. She returned to Dartmouth after the passing of her husband. She was a caretaker for her brothers, nieces, nephews and many others. She was an active member of Smith Neck Friends Meeting and Friendly Circle. She loved being surrounded by the love of her family, laughter and light.
Without having had children of her own, she loved and enjoyed her nieces and nephews very much. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Joanne Cabral and her husband Anthony, Carol Lawrence, Deborah Reid, Mildred Scott, Kenneth Howland and his wife Kathy, Charles Howland and his wife Wendy, Stephen Howland and his wife Sandy, Beth Gauvin and her husband Len, Jane Rheaume and her husband Richard, Gideon Howland and his wife Cindy, Barbara Coyle and her husband Kevin, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 10 AM, at Smith Neck Friends Meeting House, 594 Smith Neck Road, Dartmouth, MA. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Smith Neck Friends Meeting House. Her burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the WARING-SULLIVAN Funeral Home of DARTMOUTH.
