George Mello

George Mello, 84, of Tiverton, RI, passed away on April 1, 2013 at the New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital. Born in Tiverton, he was one of eleven children of the late Manuel J. and Maria R. (Branco) Mello.

George was a talented finish carpenter and worked for Lloyd Lawton Landscaping for many years.

He absolutely loved being outdoors, gardening and landscaping his children’s property. George loved the company of his children’s Labrador Retriever dogs whom he considered his grandchildren and one special little girl “Layla”.

Survivors include his daughter, Christine Medeiros and her husband John V. of Dartmouth; his son, George Mello Jr. of Acushnet; his sister, Alice Rancourt of Tiverton; and former husband of Dorothy (DeMoranville) Sylvia. He was predeceased by his siblings, Manuel, John, Joseph, Antone, Alfred, Louis, Edward, Mary M. and Mary Mello.

A funeral mass with his cremains present will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Madeline's Church, 35 Lake Road, Tiverton, RI 02878. Arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth. For online tributes please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com
