

Irving L. “Larry” Denault, age 84, of New Bedford, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Marjorie A. “Marge” (Viator) Denault to whom he shared 58 years of marriage with.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Irene (Marlowe) Denault, he was a lifelong resident of the city and was a Police Officer for many years retiring from the Detective Division in 1973.
A Veteran of the United States Air Force, he served as an Airman First Class during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene where he served as an Usher. He was also a member of their Seniors Club.
Artistically talented, Larry enjoyed drawing, scrimshaw, and making bookmarks. His favorite theme was anything nautical from whales to lighthouses to clipper ships. He loved videography and most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Susan L. Gracie and her husband Russell Gracie Jr., of New Bedford, Janice L. Petitpas and her husband Paul of Fairhaven, two sons: Larry H. Denault and his wife Lynn and Paul D. Denault and his wife Donna all of New Bedford, nine grandchildren: Joshua, Adam, Russell, and Brianne Gracie, Jason, Jenna, and Brooke Denault, Justin and Jillian Petitpas, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Clifton A. Denault.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, September 12, 2104 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00AM in the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd., New Bedford. Visiting hours Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Burial in Acushnet Cemetery.
