Johnny V, “Johnny Cap”, passed away on June 23, 2022 following a brave battle with Amyloidosis. He was the loving husband to Christine (Mello) Medeiros, whom he had been married to since 1982 and shared the last fifty years with. He was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. He was the Owner and Operator of “Capital Dairy” where he worked throughout his entire life. Founded in 1923, it was passed down to him by his father and his grandfather before him. He was excited to make 100 years.
He was incredibly proud of his "66 GTO" that he spent time working on and customizing. He enjoyed traveling on his motorcycles with friends and watching motorcycle races across the USA. He loved meeting new people and making connections wherever he went. He was a big family man, and was happiest when everyone was together
He was “the Milkman” to many, and “Uncle Johnny” to others. He was lovingly referred to as “V” by his wife and friends. His niece, Rachael, dotingly referred to him as “Felicia” and she enjoyed going on adventures with him and listening to his many stories. He was loved by all and had the best personality. He was endlessly kind, strong and brave. His niece often referred to him as “her rock”.
John is survived by his beautiful wife, Christine, whom he referred to as “his angel”. Survivors also include his “inherited children” Rachael Marie (Vaz) Medeiros of New Bedford and Michael Vaz of Atlanta, Georgia; his brother, Bruce Medeiros of New Bedford and wife, Rebecca Pink; , brother -in-law George Mello, Jr. of Acushnet and sister- in- law Julie Braga of Largo, FL, and his loving pets, Beau, Raven, Molly, Gracie and Diablo. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He had the most beautiful reunion upon his passing with his late father and mother, John V. Medeiros Jr. (Cap) and Beatrice (Braga) Medeiros; as well as with his brother, Robert Braga and sister, Donna Marie Vaz. He had several pets to welcome him at the Rainbow Bridge.
The family would like to give a special thanks to those milk customers who became family and to his few special friends (you know who you are).
