Justina E. Vieira

March 12, 1922October 2, 2020

Justina (Esteves Clemente) Vieira, age 98 of South Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Our Lady‘s Haven in Fairhaven, after being diagnosed with dementia several years ago. She was the wife of the late Dionísio B. Vieira.

Born in Louriceira, Portugal, the daughter of the late José Clemente and Maria Esteves, she immigrated to the United States in 1963. Mrs. Vieira was employed as a stitcher for many years prior to becoming a caregiver for her late husband. Quick-witted and kind, she enjoyed being outside in her garden, crocheting, visiting with her late sister-in-law Lucrecia, and looking through cookbooks for new ideas.

She is survived by her two daughters Natalia Vieira, Iria DeValles-Vieira and her husband William, as well as her grandson Alexander (DeValles-Vieira) Bernardo and his husband Steven, all of South Dartmouth. She is also survived by her brother José of Portugal, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings Cremilde, Virgílio, and Iria.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Casa da Saudade Branch Library, 58 Crapo Street, New Bedford, MA 02740.
