Maria O. (Correia) DeMello, age 76 of Dartmouth, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Paul J. DeMello, Sr.

Born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Ventura S. and Virginia (Viveiros) Correia. She was a lifelong area resident. She was employed as a chef for many years at Café Estoril. Maria loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was everything to her. She was a kind loving generous person that was also known to be a bit on the adventurous side.

Maria is survived by her six children, Robyn Pontes and her husband Glenn of New Bedford, Gina DeMello of Dartmouth, Christine Leonardo and her husband Steven of Dartmouth, Kimberly Raposo and her husband Ricardo of Dartmouth, Paul J. DeMello Jr of Florida and Tracey DeMello and her companion Keith Levine of Easton; three sisters, Virginia Brunton of Dartmouth, Bernadette Ramos and her husband George of New Bedford and Gabriela Gagnier of TN; a brother Henry Correia of Dartmouth; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Correia.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 10:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd, S. Dartmouth. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00PM. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Allen Street, New Bedford, MA. To leave a note of condolence: www.waring-sullivan.com

Tia, you will be missed dearly!!! It was a pleasure caring for you and even though it wasn’t for long in the short amount of time we had together I will cherish it forever!! Watch over your beautiful daughters and handsome son! I feel your presence when I do my night time prayer and I will miss our night prayer time together!!! Your soul was so beautiful, amazing, and just pure!! I will miss you tremendously but I know your watching over me!! It’s never goodbye it’s CIAO for now !! Till we meet again my sweet Angel... I have so many memories of her throughout my childhood & as a adult. She was always so loving and caring towards anyone who was in her sight. I have been always so in awe of all the love your family has for each other. I can see her beautiful smile now in heaven home with her husband. I feel blessed to have know her and will always praise her life. I wish nothing but peace and love to your whole family.

Many pleasant memories of Maria and all the DeMellos as wonderful neighbors and friends. Very sad to hear of this great loss. May her loving spirit live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
