Raymond Joseph Fontaine

Raymond J. Fontaine, age 91, entered eternal rest on January 19, 2020 at home with his family at his side.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Marie Anna (Blaise) Fontaine and the husband of the late Claire A. Fontaine with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.

He was a resident of New Bedford and a member of St. James Church for over 67 years. Raymond was the former owner of Coffee An’ Service in New Bedford. He was an avid gardener, loved to walk and enjoyed nature.

Raymond is survived by three sons, David Fontaine and his wife Kathy of Harwich, James Fontaine of Exeter, RI, and Christopher Fontaine and his wife Susan of Westport; two daughters, Constance Teixeira and her husband Gabriel of Fall River and Elizabeth Fontaine of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Julie Fontaine and her husband Chris DeAngelis, John Fontaine and Jeffrey Fontaine and his wife Lindsay; two great grandchildren, Kade and Ellis DeAngelis; a sister, Rita Lefebvre of Pawtucket, RI; many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Thomas Fontaine and brother of the late Roland Fontaine and Rhea Lallier.

His funeral will be Friday, January 24, 2020 at 9 a.m. from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James, 233 County St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 4- 7 p.m. For online tribute/directions www.waring-sullivan.com.
