Raymond Silva, age 73, of Dartmouth and Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Karin (Liedemann) Silva who passed away on October 10, 2017.
He was born in New Bedford, a son of the late Manuel Perreira Silva and Zulmira (Alfredo) Silva.
Mr. Silva was a proud New Bedford Firefighter who served for over 20 years at Station 8, Ladder 4. He also was an avid shell fisherman. He served his country in the Army Reserves.
Raymond enjoyed metal detecting, prospecting and astronomy. He loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Charlie.
He leaves behind his children, Heidi Delano and husband Jon, Michelle Silva, Raymond Silva Jr. and wife Amy Taber-Silva, Ryan Silva and wife Katherine Messier and Luciano Silva; his grandchildren, Jack Henry Silva, Abigail Rae Silva, Bryce Silva, Audrey Delano and Alyssa Delano; his brother, Robert Silva; and his sister, Margaret Silva. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Silva.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. A donation in memory of Raymond may be made to a no-kill animal shelter of your choice.
