Audley Elroy Lowe

85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 8, 2016. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Audley was born in Sheet Harbour on October 30, 1931. He was the son of the late James and Johanna “Josie” (nee Rhyno) Lowe. He is survived by his children, daughter, Debbie (Dan) Christianson; sons, David (Peggy), Truro, and Steven (Karen), Dartmouth; his grandkids, Jamie and Marie Christianson, Sara and Laura Lowe, Jessica and Ryan Lowe. He is survived by his brother Dale (Linda) and Sister Edie (Carl) Morash and was predeceased by his parents, wife of 48 years Betty (nee Benjamin), brothers, Barrie and Noel and his companion of 9 years Joan Connors. Audley was an avid hunter, gardener and fisherman. He was a long-time member of the Northumberland Links Golf Course. He spent the bulk of his career working at Imperial Oil Refinery in Dartmouth. He enjoyed many summers and hunting seasons at their cottage in Fox Harbour. A special thanks to all the nurses and doctors who cared for Audley at the Cumberland Regional Health Center and the Dartmouth General Hospital ICU and Emergency departments. There will be visitation on Friday, November 11 from 6-8 pm at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate Audley's life will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 10 a.m. in Woodlawn United Church, 54 Woodlawn Rd., Dartmouth. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Gay's River Cemetery for the family members. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to either the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
