POWER, Basil William “Bill” - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Dad 81 year old Basil William Power on Saturday, June 13, 2020 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born March 7, 1939 in NFLD he was the son of the late Alex Stacey and Mary Power. As a young man he left Newfoundland for Nova Scotia to join the military which he served for three years. Once discharged and after a few other ventures his thirst for adventure and travel led him to the open road where he spent the next 50 years behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler traveling the country where he became known as "Wild Bill" Power. He resided in Dartmouth for the last 40 years with his late wife Deborah Rose Power (Mrs. Happy Face). Dad was well known in the downtown corridor as a local resident, family man and business owner. In the 70s and 80s he owned and operated with the help of Vicki and Tony a well known all night diner "The Little Truck Stop". He sold his home on Wentworth Street after Debbie passed and took up residence at Kings Warf in December where he enjoyed the last six months still enjoying the great downtown waterfront. He and his late wife were members of the Rock Church, Lower Sackville. He will be sadly missed by all. He is survived by children; Vicki MacRae (Joe Gamble) Five Islands, Leisa Morel (Eddy) Fort McMurray, AB., Tony Power (Carol Banfield) Enfield NS. Terry Power (Lisa Morash) Valmont, BC., Tammy Hubley (Rick) Bridgewater, NS., brother; Keith Dunn, Dartmouth, NS., sister; Cathy Walsh, NFLD. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased wife; Deborah Rose Power, son; Gregory Power, granddaughter; Courtney Morash, grandson; Joshua (Bubby) Power. My message previously had the wrong name at the bottom so I will send it again.

I will cherish the past memories I have of my time spent with Bill and Debbie.
God didn’t promise days without pain
Laughter without sorrow
Sun without rain
But He did promise you
Strength for the day
Comfort for the tears
And light for the way!
God Bless!

To all Bill's family. We are so shocked and sorry for the passing of your Dad, granddad and family. The last time I saw him was at Debbie's funeral on 18Nov. We have been thinking of him and wondering how he was making out. We knew he had sold the home where I took our dog Molly for years to be groomed . Bill was sometimes around when he wasn't on the road. He was always ready for a good chat . Both he and Debbie will always be remembered as fine people to Kenny and I. Not only from Debbie being the best groomer, but also from church where we attended also. Sending our love and prayers at this sad time to all of you. He will be united in Heaven for sure with Debbie. Kenny and Judi MacPhee

Dear Power family,
Sending love and prayers to you as you go through this time of mourning.
Knowing Bill was a joy and privilege. He was a man of integrity and faith. His joy was constantly abundant and freely given.
He is now reunited with his beautiful Mrs Happy Face as they are at rest in the arms of their Loving God.
Take care of each other and rest in the knowledge that many people are sending their love and support to all of you at this time.
God Bless you,
Mary Jeanette Walton
