

GRINTER, Charles Arthur George, Age 61, of Dartmouth, died March 21st 2015, at home. Charlie had been battling heart complications off and on since 2006. Now, the battle is over, and he can join his father in the peace and serenity up above. Charlie is survived by his mother, Elsie Grinter, spouse Linda Grinter, daughter Amanda Grinter (Scott), sister Sharon Crewe (Jim), sister Jeanie Saulnier (Donnie), brother Roy Grinter (Janet), sister Linda Pettipas (Mike), brother Tommy Grinter, his many wonderful nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all whom he adored, niece Danette Varner (Jason) whom he was a guardian to for many years, and her children who he considered his grandsons, Jacob, Joseph and Joshua. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Grinter, mother's companion Paul Cyr, and nephew D.J. Saulnier. In his younger years, Charlie played and coached hockey and baseball. He also helped coach his daughter's softball teams as she grew up. Over the last 25 years, he was very involved in his dart leagues, and had a close relationship with the community of people at the Newfoundland Club in Dartmouth. He also enjoyed spending time fishing, often with his nephew Ronnie Powell and dog Cruiser. Everyone who was in Charlie's life was special to him, and he will be deeply missed by all. The family would like thank all of the wonderful doctors and specialists who helped Charlie when he was not well. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St, Dartmouth. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 29th at 2pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Private family burial to happen at a later date.
