SNELGROVE, Charles “Edward” - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of C. Edward Snelgrove on August 6, 2022 at the Dartmouth General Hospital following a short but courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 78. Born in Halifax on August 29, 1943, he was the beloved son of the late Charles and Velma (Judge) Snelgrove and the loving and devoted husband of Beverly (D’Arcy) Snelgrove of 57 years. Upon completion of his schooling in Halifax, Ed joined the RCAF Military Police for several years. Ed was a kind, gentle man who despite major health challenges for many years always found time to help his family, friends and neighbours when needed. He loved to sing and was a member of the Dartmouth Senior’s Choir for several years. He loved his Montreal Canadians and Toronto Blue Jays passionately, enjoying a visit to Rogers Center to see his Jays in action. Another highlight was his cross Canada road trip with Bev to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Ed made friends wherever he went and especially loved his morning coffee group at Tim Horton’s. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Beverly and his much loved sister, Marion Marshall of Winnipeg and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he is predeceased by his older brother, Harold Snelgrove. Cremation has taken place and a visitation will be held in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth from 1-3 pm on Friday, August 12, for family and friends followed by interment for family and close friends in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Dartmouth. Masks are not mandatory, but recommended. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Soul’s Harbour Mission or a charity of choice in Ed’s memory. We send our thanks to the doctors and nurses on 4 – West Dartmouth General, staff at the Cancer Center Halifax, our dear friend, Carol Parks and to our friends and neighbours on Garden Court for their kindness. Condolences may be left to the family at: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com.
