He was predeceased by his wife, mother, and brother.
Chu was born on Jan 10th, 1925, in Tsengshing, Canton, China. With his mother, he went to Hong Kong when he was a teenager. Through apprenticeship, he became a shoe repairer. In the fifties, he married to Kum Lan Mok and with her, raised a family. In the eighties, through the sponsorship of their daughter, he and his wife and two of their children immigrated to Canada.
Chu lived in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and became a part-time cook until retirement in his early seventies.
Chu is survived by five sons and a daughter, four children-in-laws, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, two nephews and a niece and their families.
