Age 90 of Dartmouth passed away following a brief illness at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born June 2, 1931 in Halifax, he was the son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Bentley) Bissett. Cyril grew up in Cole Harbour and did numerous jobs including construction of the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge before completing his training as an electrician. He worked for Portland Electrics Ltd., for many years before moving to the Dartmouth School Board where he worked until his retirement in 1992. Since then he remained busy working on his garden, flowers and property.
Cyril was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years Joan (Sellars) and his brother Stewart Bissett. He is survived by his three children, Bradford, Sharon and Kevin (Audrey), grandchildren Ryan and Sarah (Zachery) and great-grandchildren Adalynn and Cohen, and sisters-in-law Glenna Sellars and Florence Bissett.
Visitation will be held Tuesday Aug. 3, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at A.L. Mattatall Funeral home at 217 Portland St., Dartmouth.
Funeral Service will be held at the same location Wednesday Aug. 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions attendance is limited and will be by invitation only.
