It is with sad but grateful hearts we announce the passing of our much loved son and grandson Danny Gallant. Danny passed away in his favourite place, in the arms of his mom and nanny on January 20, 2016. Danny was a grade 12 student at DHS where he will be missed by his many friends. Dan lived an incredible life, teaching everyone who knew him life’s lessons, like compassion and acceptance; but mostly gratitude. Known throughout his school career for his amazing smile, the best birthday parties and awesome “Kicks” each matching his outfit of the day. Dan set the scale for inclusion being the first kid with significant disabilities to attend HRM summer camps and Tim Horton’s camp with JMES. He is responsible for the elevator at JMJH and attended extracurricular activities at DHS. He taught everybody how to take the dis out of disability for sure. Dan loved flying on the plane, especially take-off and landing and traveled extensively to awesome places with his mom and nanny from Canada’s Wonderland, Niagara Falls, Disney, Universal Studios and the Dominican Republic. Danny is survived by his mother Jennifer (Wellingthon); grandmother Sherry MacEachern (Jerry); brother Raziel; grandmother Shirley Ubdegrove; grandfather Bob Brown (Ardith) and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dan now rests in Daddy’s arms (John Ubdegrove) who predeceased him in August 2015. You will always be our sunshine, RIP Danny Gallant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4pm in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home and a Celebration of Dan’s amazing life will follow in the chapel at 4pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Association for Community Living.
