Donald Edwin Horne

Horne, Donald (Don) E.- of Seaforth, N.S. passed away on April 6, 2011 at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Dartmouth he was the son of the late Benjamin and Muriel (Lovett) Horne. Don was active in scouting, minor league baseball and hockey. He also worked with mentally challenged adults. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and sailing, travel around the province, especially to Lunenburg. Once he retired he became interested in crafts and woodwork. His family and friends were the lucky recipients of his work. Don is survived by his loving wife Joan (DeBaie); son Andrew (Vicki), Calgary; daughters Susan, Pamela (George), both of Halifax; grandchildren Emily, Damon and Kelsey. He was predeceased by brothers Alan, Doug, Benjamin; sisters Helen, Eileen, Jean and Nora. He was the last surviving member of his family. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. Memorial service will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Grace United Church, 170 King St., Dartmouth, Rev. Stephen Fram and Kevin Cox officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice. Don was first and foremost a family man, loving husband and caring father and grandfather.
