Donald Allison "Duckie" Shrum

With heavy hearts we announce Duckie’s passing on February 9, 2012 at home in the presence of his family and friends. He was the son of the late Harold and Bessie (Arnold) Shrum. He lived all of his life in the Cole Harbour area. Duckie always looked forward to spring when he could plant one sometimes three gardens. He worked for Conrad Transport for 40 years, the last 15 being part time. He leaves to mourn his wife Joyce (McKinley) of 54 years; daughter Donna (Blair) Harnish; son, Barry (Patti); daughter, Janice Shrum (Peter Bennett); grandchildren Andrew and Alyson Harnish, and Tyler Shrum. Brothers, Rowdy (Marg), Victor (Shirley), Wayne (Diane), and Alan. Sisters Glenis ( Jim) Dragatis, Marlene Killer (Malcolm Schofield), June (Eddie) Porter, Sharon (Gus) Murray, Helen (Eric) Ostrowercha; also sister and brother-in-law Donnie and Doreen Bremner and sister in law Betty Shrum; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Betty Henderson and brother Kenneth. Visitation will be Sunday February 12th 2 - 5 pm at A. L. Mattatal Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 13th at 11:00 at A. L. Mattatal Funeral Home, Rev John Ferguson officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
