Age 79, it is with great sadness that we the remaining family of Donna Audrey MacLean of Halifax, formerly of Sunnyville announce her passing. Mom transitioned into Glory on 29 July 2021. Mom was born in Sydney Mines, NS where she spent her early years until she moved to Sunnyville, Guysborough Co. to work at National Sea Food in Canso until she retired in the 1990’s. Mom was an active member of the Sunnyville Baptist Church and the local legion. Mom loved to dance, sing, shop and go to Bingo. Mom was a kind, gentle, loving woman and a devoted grandmother. Upon moving to Halifax, mom became a baptized member of New Horizons Baptist Church (formerly Cornwallis Street Baptist church) where she attended faithfully until her diagnosis of dementia.
She is survived by her children, Tammy MacLean (Dartmouth), Nancy MacLean, Lana MacLean Pleasant (H. Thane) (all from Halifax), Paul MacLean (Glace Bay), Angela Pepperdene (Halifax), Glen (Brittnee) Pepperdene and Meghan MacLean (all of NB); sister, Patricia Clyke (Ernest) of Sunnyville. Mom was loved by many nieces and nephews and she adored her grandchildren who loved her to the moon and back. She is predeceased by her mother, Hazel MacLean; sister, Shirley Dorrington and infant brother, Ronald.
In keeping with mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is planned to take place in Guysborough in the near future. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough. The family wishes to thank the 6th Floor staff at St. Vincent’s Nursing home for their amazing care. To honour our mother, donations can be made to New Horizons Baptist Church Building Fund.
