

Teasdale, Doris Evelyne, 91, of Dartmouth, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, August 3rd, 2015. She was the daughter of Francis and Jessie (Austen) Dyke. Doris was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. She studied drawing and painting at the old Nova Scotia College of Art and also graduated from the Halifax Ladies College where she studied oil painting for 2 years. In later years she began learning more painting techniques through workshops and lessons in pastel portraiture, acrylics, Oriental Brushwork, and her favourite, watercolor. On August 3rd, 1946 she married her highschool sweetheart, Gordon Parker Teasdale. They had two daughters; Patricia, Dartmouth and Marilyn (Allen) Moncton N.B.; two granddaughters, Sandra (Jeroen) Jasper, Ab. and Emilee (Ryan) Moncton N.B. She leaves a legacy of her lovely watercolor paintings, stained glass lamp shades and copper enamelled jewellery to the family. She was passionate about her art, especially painting, right up until the age of 90. Doris was a member of the Dartmouth Visual Arts Society since its inception and participated in numerous exhibits. She was also a lifelong member of the IODE Maid Marion Chapter. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews who hold fond memories of their Auntie Doss. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon, in 2013; also by her two dear sisters, Elizabeth Birdsall of Dartmouth and Marjorie Terry of Charlotte NC. Funeral arrangements are with A. L. Mattatall's Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. The body has been cremated. There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 11th, 2015 at 1pm in Christ Church, corner of Ochterloney and Wentworth Streets, Dartmouth. Rev. Jane Clattenburg officiating. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Private family internment will take place after the reception. In lieu of charitable donations, an Art Scholarship will be created in her memory in the near future.
