
Aucoin, Edmond Joseph (Bob), C.D., 90, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in the Palliative Care Unit, Victoria General Hospital after a three-month battle with cancer. Born in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Amédée L. and Marie B. (Chiasson). He was a World War II veteran and served with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in Britain, the Mediterranean area and continental Europe. Following the cessation of hostilities, he served with the Occupation Force in Germany until 1946. He was employed at HMC Dockyard, Ship Repair Unit, in various management positions for thirty years prior to retiring in 1980. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Vina (LeBlanc), son Tom (Maureen) and daughters Elaine (Don) Morash and Annette (Pat) Sherlock. He is also survived by his brother Tom (Della), and four grandchildren, Paul Aucoin, Amy Sherlock (Ryan Brookman), Ben and Kevin Morash, as well as many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Clifford and Clarence. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10 at St. Clement’s Church, 16 Gaston Road, Dartmouth, Rev. Malcolm MacNeil officiating. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a reception at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. Private interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
