Eleanor Mae Cudhea

September 23, 1932October 10, 2020

Age 88 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2020 in the Dartmouth General Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Ella and Frank Rogers of Oxford Junction, Nova Scotia. Eleanor is survived by her only daughter, Kim of Coldbrook, NS. She was predeceased by Jim, her loving husband of 46 years, and brothers, Carman, Kenneth and Leonard. Cremation has taken place.

Mom enjoyed socializing with friends, playing bridge, and more recently playing bingo with the gang at Horizon Court. Summers spent with Dad and their friends at the cottage in Heather’s Beach held very special memories for her. Throughout her life she enjoyed curling, and was a wonderful gardener. She was like a second Mom to many of my friends over the years. Her gentle smile and way of always listening deeply with love and care will be missed by many.

Special thanks to all of her friends who have truly enriched her life. As her daughter, I am so thankful for the time we had together. She was always there for me as a Mom and a friend.

There will be no service as per Eleanor’s wishes. Interment will take place in Oxford Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Eleanor can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Kim, your mother was so kind to me, but she was kind to every one. I would often sit and talk with her and we found that we had a lot in common. She had a way of making people feel special when they were with her. During these times of Covid, I would call to see how she was and she would always say that she was fine and want to know more on how I was doing. Her voice was so caring and lovingly really. I think of Eleanor as a top notch classy elegant lady. Know that your Mom made a difference in this world with her genuine caring and kind manner. I’ll miss your Mom here at Horizon. My condolences to you Kim.

Dear Kim,
We are so sorry for the loss of your mum. She was such a lovely lady, and the obituary you wrote was a wonderful tribute to her. I know you will miss her so much.
We knew your parents years ago when we were all members of the Dartmouth Curling Club. I still have a beach towel that your father gave me when I was recuperating from an accident. They were both good friends and great people.
Our deepest sympathy.

Kim, your Mom was very special to us here at Horizon Court and I know you will feel her loss keenly. I cannot count the number of times I sat with her in the lobby, chatting about life. She was one of the most welcoming people I've ever known. She remembered what was going on in the lives of others and would ask about them. We had a mutual friend who she asked about whenever we met up. I cherish those times we would sit together, enjoying each other's company and having a quiet talk. She was loveliness personified and we will miss her very much. Soft spoken, kind, caring, and an excellent listener. God bless her.
