Elsie Marie Decker

Decker, Elsie M. – 84 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully June 3, 2014 in Northwood Center. Born in Brentwood, N.S., she was the daughter of the late George and Sadie (Bates) Matheson. Elsie trained and worked at the Nova Scotia Hospital until her retirement. She received her long term service award, and RN post grad course. Elsie grew up on a dairy farm and loved cows and cats, she performed many selfless acts. She enjoyed the cottage at Shorts Lake, bowling, hockey and baseball. She is survived by her son Rod, of Dartmouth; daughter Tanya (Gary) Irvine, of Cole Harbour; grandchildren Allan and Craig; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband W. B. Lewis Decker, step-mother Alice Grace Matheson, a brother in infancy and a step-brother Cyril McNutt. Visitation will be held 6 – 8 pm on Friday June 6, 2014. A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street. Rev. Stephen Fram officiating. Burial will take place in Brookfield Cemetery.
